I have kept a fairly consistent journal since the 3rd grade. Sometimes, writing can feel like a neuroses to me, or rather, I start to feel like I have some kind of neuroses if I have not gotten around to putting my thoughts down on paper. It’s hard to concentrate, it’s difficult to be in the present moment, there’s a tugging in my mind to work through whatever recent events have occurred. I have a fear of missing out, but even deeper for me, I think I have a fear of forgetting. Even though many of my “brilliant insights” don’t seem nearly as brilliant in the morning light, I still carry a fear that if I don’t work it out fully with paper and pen, it will soon be lost. Writing, however, has always been for me until now.
For a while, I liked to think of myself as an artist except…I had little talent in art. I admired greatly the spirit that all artists seemed to have in common, the way they see the world differently, the way they “dance to the beat of their own drum,” their ability to infuse the world with a unique insight, stroke, or note. Mostly, I admired their ability to create Beauty. Over the years, I’ve come to realize that while I can’t hardly draw, paint or sculpt, I can create some beauty. I can attempt to teach in an engaging way, share a conversation, add some details to the dinner table or meal itself, grow some flowers and vegetables, and, of course, my ultimate creation- my husband and I created some pretty beautiful children! Also, I can write. It feels pretty vulnerable to put my writing out here like this, but if I can add some beauty to your life by sharing some perspectives that I’ve worked through, then I will be grateful to do so.
The website name comes from my name which means beloved life, however, belovedlife was taken so I had to choose lifebeloved. What, at first, felt like a disappointment, quickly became a moment of joy as I heard the Creator whisper to me “Life” comma “Beloved.” Yes, life. Life! Real life, true life, meaningful, open, abundant, faithful life, life, life. It’s all about choosing life, seeing life, noticing life. Thanks for being here on this journey with me. I can’t wait to have some life talks with you!
